Day 1️⃣0️⃣…We’ve all heard it time and time again but yet so many people don’t do it. What is that? Sleep between 7-9 hours. Why is sleep so important and what does it have to do with skin care? Besides reducing stress, improving your mood, lowering your risk of health problems, and getting sick less often, sleep is when your skin repairs itself and is able to absorb topical treatments. When you don’t get enough sleep you can get dark circles under your eyes, your pH levels drop causing dry skin and making fine lines and wrinkles more prominent. Also, lack of sleep means higher cortisol levels, which contributes to the breakdown of collagen, which contributes to premature aging. It’s basically a trickle effect. So if you didn’t have a reason before to get more shut eye, now you do. Sleep tight.
