Change is scary for a lot of people. It can even be debilitating for some. But what they don’t realize is that not only is change constant it’s necessary. Change, big or small, shifts the energy around you creating what I like to call small miracles.
The following is a list of 5 things you can change in 2020.
Get up 10-15 minutes earlier. Use this time to meditate, read a self help book, write in your gratitude journal, drink a hot cup of tea in silence, or stretch. You can also use this time to reflect, dream, write or draw. Just make sure it is something that you look forward to doing so that it becomes a part of your morning routine instead of a thing you have to do. Also, Do NOT watch the news or go on your phone. Doing so defeats the purpose and it will not have the same affect.
Be mindful of what you eat. What you put in your body is a choice and one small change can make a huge impact. Do you have to go on a big diet? No. But making little changes can make a big difference. You can slowly get rid of any junk food in the kitchen and slowly replace them with healthy items. When you surround yourself with healthy items, you make healthy choices. When you make healthy choices, your body responds with better sleep and more energy. Also try to eat without distractions, like TV and phone, and remember how fortunate you are to have a meal.
Clear your space, clear your mind. This is one of my favorite things to do because the more you clear out the more you leave open for new things to come into your life. Clearing your physical space allows energy to flow more freely. It also creates less stress which ends up clearing your mind. When your mind is clear, you make better choices. If you do not know where to start, try cleaning out a junk drawer, car trunk, makeup drawer, magazine stacks, or desk.
Keep track of your spending habits for the month. You will be surprised to see where your money is going. With online shopping at you fingertips and going out to eat on a regular basis, it’s easy to lose track of how your money is being spent. You can keep track with a spreadsheet or by using a free finance app. I like to use the Every Dollar App. It’s free and easy to use.
Forgive yourself and others. Nothing will hold you back more than keeping a grudge, anger, or resentment because in the end the only person it hurts is you. Worse, it can cause stress and anxiety. Learn to let things go and see how freeing it is. This alone is the most healthy change you can make in your life because it literally starts a trickle effect of you wanting to better your life. It truly is healing.
One small change added to another small change creates a chain of small miracles. Try it and see what happens. Can you commit to these 5 things you can change in 2020? If 5 seems daunting, can you commit to 2 or 3?
